Review:
Archer's Voice is a stand-alone book by
Mia Sheridan. This is a beautiful love story about two people
fighting their own internal battles. The heroine, Bree, spontaneously
leaves her home to get away from life. She finds a lakeside cottage
in Maine to rent, but doesn't know how long she will stay. Soon after
arriving in this small town, she runs into a mysterious man. He has a
long, unkempt beard (and hair) – and he doesn't speak – but yet
Bree feels instantly drawn to him.
Archer has lived a horrible, lonely
life. Not only that, he was shot in the neck as a child and cannot
speak. He is a hermit and barely leaves his house. He isn't able to
communicate with anyone in town, so all the residents don't really
have anything to do with him. Bree is the first person to barge into
his life wanting to know more about him.
I thought Bree was a little too forward
and pushy with him in the beginning. Yet, I think he needed that
because his walls were built up so high and he wasn't letting anyone
in. She gradually chipped down those walls until she got to know what
a wonderful person Archer is. Both of these characters are wonderful
in their own way. Also, Bree already knew sign language because her
father was deaf – so things just worked out perfectly.
Archer has lived such an odd lifestyle
for so long, that there were so many things he hadn't experienced. He
hadn't experienced affection since he was a little boy, so a
relationship with a woman was hard for him. He was definitely
inexperienced in that category, but it was fun seeing him try new
things. This book is definitely steamy and will make you swoon. I
loved seeing all the great changes that Bree brings out in Archer. He
definitely grows as a person. These two are just perfect for each
other. If you love romances, this book is a must read!
