Source: Received through blog tour in exchange for an honest review

Synopsis:

The bloody war between the Vampire Tribunal and the defiant scathe of Penton, Alabama, rages on, forcing its residents and their bonded humans to retreat into the underground fortress of last resort: Omega. There, Will Ludlam is charged with the care of Penton’s humans, though he longs to fight alongside his vampire brethren. He knows the risks: as the renegade son of the Tribunal’s vicious leader, Will’s capture could doom the resistance. Yet he is determined to prove his worth to his adopted scathe, to his vengeful father—and to former US Army officer Randa Thomas, his beautiful, reluctant partner. Randa has little faith that a former member of the vampire elite has what it takes to fight a war. But as their enemies descend upon Omega, Will’s polished charm—and Randa’s guarded heart—finally give way to the warrior within. Fans of Susannah Sandlin’s Penton Legacy are sure to devour this long-awaited third installment of the steamy paranormal series.

Review:

Omega is the third book in the Penton Legacy series by Susannah Sandlin. The one focuses on Will, and the ongoing war. The Penton residents are underground – hiding from Will's father. Matthias is determined to get his son back, and get revenge on the citizens of Penton.

Things are getting tense with Matthias closing in on their location, and the Penton residents getting antsy from being stuck underground. The humans are getting sick and the vampires are having to cut back on feeding.

Will has always been the cocky, lighthearted vampire and computer genius. Will and his partner, Randa, have clashing personalities and get on each others nerves. They come to realize though, that they've had the wrong impression of one another. Each of them put up a front to protect themselves. Will isn't anything like he seems. He is self conscious about a lot of things, and has been hiding a painful past. Randa isn't anything like the cold, uptight soldier type that Will believes. Once they are stuck together and get to know each other more, things take a sizzling turn.

This book didn't seem to have as much time for romance as the other two, but that's because there was always action. I prefer romance, but I know other readers prefer action. There was so much going on that there wasn't time to get bored with the storyline. The story was quick paced and well written. I don't know if this is the last book in the series or not. Things were wrapped up pretty well, but I think there is an opportunity for more if the author wanted. There was a new character – Cage – that I'm interested in. Also, I wanted to know more about the situation with Mark. I won't say more because I don't want to give it away, but I really want to know what ended up happening there.

The Penton world was so nicely set up, that I will be sad if the series is done. If you are a fan of steamy paranormal romances, then I definitely recommend this series. I also recommend reading them in order. The characters from the first two books make appearances in this book, so it was nice reading about them again. **Note – this book mentions sensitive topics such as rape and abuse.
