Review:

Waterfall is the first book in the new Dragon's Fate series by Lacy Danes. Jordan and his brothers are part dragon, though they are cursed to stay in human form. They have been losing their powers, and their only hope is to find their destined mates – which they have been waiting years for. To see if a woman is their mate, they must bite her. If she lives, she is their mate – all others die.

Jordan finds Celeste, who is dying after being injured in a shipwreck. To end her suffering, he bites her. A few days later, he finds out that she has lived and is married to the Duke of Hudson. Once they meet, they feel an undeniable connection. Jordan must convince her that she is married to the wrong man, and that she is his mate.

The story is set in the 17th century in London. It has more erotic content than I am used to reading in a historical romance. The sex scenes are pretty descriptive and steamy. Jordan and Celeste's sexual relationship happened rather quickly though. I like for there to be more build up, but it's understandable considering the short length of the story. With novellas, there's not a whole lot of time to get to know the characters and find out more on their background. There are quite a few different words used to describe the man and woman parts during the sex scenes. I was a bit distracted at the changing of terms, and found myself laughing out loud at one of the descriptions (which isn't exactly a good thing when reading steamy, passionate love making).

The whole story has a mysterious feel to it. There's a lot of unexplained things going on – things that never do get explained. The plot is interesting, just a bit rushed. Overall, it's an enjoyable book. If you're looking for a mixture of historical, paranormal, and erotic – then this is the book for you!

  1. Ah so this is a novella. I haven't read dragon stories and they bite their prey to convert them? The dude.looks like a vocalist from an emo band.
