Review:

Point of Retreat is the second book in the Slammed series by Colleen Hoover. This book is just as heartbreaking as the first. Things had finally worked out so Will and Layken can be together, and then something happens to make Lake question Will's love for her. She is so deeply hurt, and he is desperate to prove his love to her.

This time around, the story is told from Will's point of view – which I loved. I also loved the fact that he thought back on memories that happened during the first book so you could know what was going through his mind when he and Lake met. It makes me want to go back and read the first book again. Once again, the author does a great job of making the reader feel the character's emotions – and there are lots of emotions to be felt in this book. I loved Will's determination to get Lake back. He didn't give up on their love, even when Lake refused to see him. I thought it was hilarious when he disconnected her car battery so her car wouldn't start and she would have to ride with him.

The secondary characters were great. We even got to meet some new ones, which added some interest to the story. I'll admit that I didn't like this book as much as Slammed, but I still loved it enough to give it 5 stars. I'm absolutely dying for book #3, which is supposed to come out in 2013 but no date is set yet. There is a teaser for the third book on Colleen's website though. Ugh...she's such a tease...
