Review:

Reaping Me Softly is a YA paranormal romance by Kate Evangelista. It revolves around the life of 17 year old Arianne, who can see dead people. By a twist of fate, she gets to spend time with Niko – her longtime crush. Unfortunately, Niko is the reaper of Georgia and he reaps the soul of someone very close to Arianne. This not only causes problems in their relationship, but Arianne finds out that her life is in danger as well.

I've had my eye on this author for awhile now. I've had her other book, Taste, on my to-read list for a long time because I've heard so many great things about it. When I had the opportunity to sign up for the Reaping Me Softly blog tour, I jumped at the chance. Her covers are so beautiful and alluring.

Reaping me softly does a great job at depicting high school life, aside from the paranormal aspects of course. Arianne deals with the mean girl who bullies her all the time, though the reason for this bullying really caught me off guard. Arianne is sort of awkward and is the type of girl that other teens can identify with. Because of some tragic events, Arianne's lab partner at school is away, and she is paired up with Niko. Arianne has had a crush on Niko since her freshman year, though he hasn't noticed her until now. They have a sweet, slow moving relationship. The romance is very tame, so parents don't need to worry about their young teens reading this.

I thought that Arianne took all the supernatural stuff in Niko's world a little too calmly. Otherwise, I thought it was a good, interesting book filled with a variety of emotions. Along with love and friendship, there are some heartbreaking moments as well as action and suspense. The ending has an exciting climax that will leave you dying for the next book.
