Review: Elemental by Brigid Kemmerer

 Title: Elemental (Elementals #0.5)
Author: Brigid Kemmerer
Source: Got it for free on Amazon

Synopsis:

As an air Elemental, 17-year-old Emily Morgan doesn’t have much power. That’s okay—she knows what happens to kids who do.

Like Michael Merrick. He’s an earth Elemental, one with enough power to level cities. Which makes him sexy. Dangerous. And completely off limits. At least according to Emily’s family.

But her summer job puts her in close contact with Michael, and neither of them can help the attraction they feel. When forces of nature like theirs collide, one misstep could get someone killed. Because Emily’s family doesn’t just want her to stay away from him.

They want him dead.

Review:

Elemental is book #0.5 in the Elementals series by Brigid Kemmerer. It's a 50 page prequel to the Elementals series about two teens that can control the elements. Emily doesn't have a lot of power, but Michael does. This makes him very dangerous and the other Elementals want him dead.

Emily and Michael have a growing attraction, even though it is forbidden for them to be near each other. These two have some good chemistry, which is sometimes hard to find in a novella. I was drawn in from the very beginning. I wish it was longer – Michael is a character I would have liked to read more about. He has a tough life, and I felt bad for him. I liked how the POV switched back and forth from Emily to Michael. It's always nice to have the male perspective as well.

The ending seemed a little abrupt to me. It's definitely making me want to read the next book in the series, though it sounds like it centers around one of Michael's brothers instead of Michael (which is a little disappointing). Still, I have a feeling that Storm will be just as good and I'm definitely looking forward to it.

  1. Oh dude! What are you waiting for? Have you started Storm yet? It is sooo good as well as Spark! I actually read Storm before Elemental and it explained so much about Michael's personality and since it helped me understand him more, I liked him more.

Yeah, so far each book has focused on a different brother and his love interest except for the latest novella, Fearless. I do hope that Michael gets a full-length book in the future!
