Review: Caressed by Moonlight by Amanda J. Greene

Synopsis:

Dorian Vlakhos is no ordinary aristocrat. He is a vampire king, who will do anything to save his clan from complete annihilation, before an ancient curse can claim his immortal life.

Penniless and orphaned, Victoria Kingston has nothing to bring to a marriage, yet she must shackle an unsuspecting gentleman into marriage by the end of the month or forfeit her rights as guardian of her younger sister. With the help of her dearest friend, Victoria begins her hunt, and vows to stay far away from the dark, mysterious, Prince Vlakhos.

After meeting the beautifully innocent Miss Kingston, Dorian had to have her. He would do absolutely anything to make Victoria his. One sweet stolen kiss would bring them together while a force, more powerful than any vampire would bind them for all eternity. But treachery, war, and death rule Dorian’s dark world and Victoria would be fortunate to survive.

Review:

After Victoria and her little sister lose their parents, they are left with nothing. Victoria even has to sell her family's country home to pay off her father's debts. Left with no other choice, they head to their aunt's home in London. Their aunt, who despises Victoria, gives her one month to find a husband before she kicks her out and keeps custody of Margaret.

I felt so bad for Victoria's predicament. She is left with nobody except for her sister Margaret, and she will stop at nothing to find a husband so she can support and keep custody of her sister. She is even willing to marry somebody she doesn't love. She attends balls to meet men and that's where she meets Dorian. She refuses to give him a chance because of the things she has heard about him, but eventually she just can't stay away.

This story is set in the 1800's, which makes it a little different than other paranormal romances. I haven't read many historical romances so this was a nice change of pace. Victoria and Dorian are a lot different from one another. She is pure, and he definitely is not. He has had plenty of women in his long, immortal life. There is something different about Victoria though that Dorian is drawn to. What will happen when she realizes he is a vampire?

There are swoonworthy moments, sexual tension, and some hot love-making. These characters are great together. The characterization in this book is great as well. There are a lot of secondary characters that you get to know and instantly like. This is a great book that incorporates romance, action, suspense, and paranormal characters. I'd recommend this for vampire fans, and also for fans of historical romance.

This is a brand new cover for the 2nd edition of this book. This newer edition won't be released until August 12th. The print version of this edition won't be ready for another month or so. You may recognize this book with this cover:
